What Is Needed in Revision of Current Korean Guideline?
Yun Sang-Chul
Abstract
The Clinical Practice Guideline is a recommendation that the clinicians can take care of the patient under certain circumstances. Guideline development should include a systematic review of the evidence of the research related to the target question. Recommendations have to be based on the explicitly identified evidence and value judgment. Recommendations are suggestions for treatment, not rules. There may be specific patients who need to treat differently due to individual differences. However, well-formulated guidelines can be useful tools to guide best practices for clinicians. Guidelines should be used as a tool in the process of carefully judging the relative risks and benefits of medical services.
